Javier Garcia
As every good salsa needs to marinate,
Javier García
needed the audience to absorb his fusion of Afro Cuban and American funk
rock. He is after all, the perfect example of a global education. Born in
Madrid to an Irish mother and a Cuban father, he fell in love with music
ever since he learnt to play guitar at age 10. Sung in a language that now
seems to be universal, his new sound is way easier to catch today.
Following an eclectic tropical path that includes Cuban son, rock, and Jamaican reggae and Ska, Garcia's album is more than just alternative salsa. With his self-titled debut going gold in Argentina and Puerto Rico and 20 years after the emergence of Gloria Estefan's Miami Sound Machine... a new, progressive Latin-pop sound is coming out of Miami, and his name is Javier Garcia.
