Itzahyana
Her exotic name comes from her Maya roots. She captivates audiences with her soulful delivery and honest talent. Itzahyana distinguishes herself among other artist by her powerful voice and her talent for play various music instruments. Shes the new exotic Latin version of Sheryl Crow, with an exquisite spicy mixture of jazzy elements. She plays accompanied by her guitar with the sounds that grow from her soul, bringing a new style of music. Itzahyana says "I grew up listening to rock n roll like the Beatles, The Doors music has always been part of my life, before I was born and still today!" She began playing at the age of eleven years old in her Middle School in Guadalajara (Jalisco) Mexico, which is where she was born. She quickly learned to play the guitar, mandolin and keyboard. One year later, to her surprise, she recorded a CD with the schools musical group. "I will never forget my first experience in a professional recording studio. These experiences touched my life in such a way that I promised myself from that moment on, that I would follow the music road till the end" comments the young songwriter with determination. Her family move to Puerto Rico. It was on the island where Itzahyana began her teenage years. One year later, at the age of 14 she returned alone to Guadalajara, México, to participate in some acting and singing at a local production of the acclaimed theater play Grease. Two month later she came back to Puerto Rico and began High School, but the dream never quite left her, so she started her own rock band and began singing and playing electric bass in different establishments and shows. Years later, she studied Music, Theatre and Communications in the University of Puerto Rico, were she graduated with honors as Magna Cum Laude. There, she integrated as a singer in the jazz seminar directed by the known composer and music artist William Cepeda. She also studied singing and jazz in the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and took many workshops, including ones from Berklee College of Music in Puerto Rico. After playing a few years in different rock bands like Proyecto Verde and Hijos de Este Mundo, Itzahyana was selected to participate on a tour with the singer Rolando D Lugo, around the island. Also, she acted on his new musical video No me digas que te vas transmitted by channel 30 and MTV Puerto Rico. In 2006, her song Mitad de Todo was selected by the producer Melba Miranda, to be in the first compilation of Puerto Rican female songwriters, to be released by Olé Music. "This song describes the feeling of being half loved" comments the singer. At the moment Itzahyana is putting the finishing sections on her first discography production. This is one assignment that shes had the opportunity to work with guitar player Rey Nieves. Hes had the priviledge to work with some well known international artists like Luis Fonsi, Jaileen Cintrón, La Secta. This is an exciting time for Itzahyana, since her dreams are finely turning into a reality.
